LANA KOS

The Croatian soprano Lana Kos rose to fame early in her careerthanks to her dominating stage presence and natural beauty inaddition to her rich, powerful voice that can easily reach 3 octaves.

Ever since making her stage debut at only 17-year-old as the Queen of the Night in Mozart’s Die Zauberflöte,she has become a frequent guest of numerous opera houses across the globe, such as Teatro Massimo diPalermo, Teatro Carlo Felice in Genova, Teatro Lirico in Cagliari, Teatro Massimo Bellini in Catania, Teatro Verdidi Trieste, Teatro Comunale di Bologna, Teatro Petruzzeli di Bari, Teatro Real in Madrid, Teatro San Carlo inNaples, Deutsche Oper am Rhein in Düsseldorf, Royal Swedish Opera in Stockholm, Municipal Theatre of SãoPaulo in Brazil, National Centre for the Performing Arts in Beijing, Guangzhou Opera House, and Festivals as theArena di Verona, Torre del Lago, Savonlinna Festival (Finland), Macao International Music Festival.

The 2023-2024 season debuted for Kos with Manon Lescaut at Teatro Verdi in Trieste and at Teatro Comunalein Bologna, followed by Tosca in Erfurt and Desdemona (Otello) at the Teatro Massimo Bellini.

In the 2022-2023 season, Lana Kos’ engagements included Il Trovatore at the Japan Opera Festival, LaTraviata at the Teatro Principal in Mallorca; Turandot (Liù) at the Taormina Festival, and her debut as Rosalindein the operetta Die Fledermaus and in the title role of Puccini’s Tosca.

Kos was appointed as the youngest soloist in the history of the Bayerische Staatsoper in Munich when he wasgiven a four-year contract in 2006. Upon her arrival, she took on various roles in multiple languages and had thechance to collaborate with internationally recognised conductors like Kirill Petrenko, Danielle Gatti, KentNagano, Marco Armiliato, Nicola Luisotti, James Conlon, Fabio Luisi, Daniel Oren, to name only a few.

The turning point of her career was her debut at the Arena di Verona as Violetta in La Traviata under the batonof M° Carlo Rizzi, and later, under the baton of M° Andrea Battistoni, in the production of Hugo de Ana.

Some of her signature leading roles are Violetta in La Traviata, Alice in Falstaff, Mimì in La Boheme, the title rolesof Romeo et Juliette, Lucia di Lammermoor, Luisa Miller, Magda (La Rondine), and further on in her career, withthe development of her voice, Manon Lescaut, Micaela (Carmen), Desdemona (Otello), Leonora (Il Trovatore), Liù(Turandot), Tatjana (Eugen Onegin). Future debuts in the title role of Rusalka and as Nedda (I Pagliacci) willcome in the next seasons.
